What We Do

Welcome HOME

Each summer, Union County Public Schools welcomes 20 to 30 teachers from around the globe who are eager to share their talents, enrich our classrooms, and inspire our students. Moving to a new country to begin a new school year is an exciting adventure—and it also comes with challenges. This is where YOU and our community step in to help!

Through the Welcome HOME! initiative, the Union County Education Foundation spearheads a community-wide effort to provide these international educators with the essential items they need to start a household—everything from cookware and linens to cleaning supplies and towels. Thanks to the tremendous generosity of local families, churches, businesses, and organizations, these teachers quickly feel not only prepared for the school year but also truly at home in Union County.

Together, we are showing our newest neighbors that they belong here, and that this community values the incredible work they will do for our students.

How You Can Help

You can help our newest educators feel at home! Supporting Welcome HOME! is simple and impactful:

  • Shop our Wishlists – Purchase items directly from our curated lists, linked above, and they’ll be shipped straight to us:
  • Donate by July 31 – To ensure every international teacher has what they need before the new school year begins, all items must be received by July 31.

Your generosity helps turn an empty apartment into a warm and welcoming home for a teacher who has traveled thousands of miles to inspire Union County students.
